Training Organisation and Course Accreditation

All organisations offering DSDM training must be members of the DSDM Consortium and be accredited by the DSDM Consortium.

Accreditation is a means of assessing the competence and integrity of organisations offering DSDM training.

We recommend that before proceeding with your application you contact us  training@dsdm.org (Tel: +44 (0)1233 501300) to discuss the application process.

Organisations applying for accreditation must be current members of the DSDM Consortium, and have held this membership for at least one month prior to application for accreditation. Course providers are initially awarded accreditation for one year. After one year, the organisation is able to renew their accreditation for a further two year period, assuming they have delivered DSDM training to a standard acceptable to the Consortium.

Organisations wishing to apply for accreditation should submit 3 copies of the following to the DSDM Consortium.

  • Brief history of Organisations training activities.
  • Example of certificates (stating the DSDM version number of the course) to be issued to delegates, with two signatures.
  • Copies of DSDM Trainer certificates for all trainers intending to present DSDM courses. An organisation must have a minimum of two DSDM trainers (Refer to Certification of Trainers)
  • DSDM Aware and/or DSDM Practitioner and/or Managing DSDM Projects Courses, if not already submitted (see Accreditation of Courses).

The accreditation process involves a thorough scrutiny of all aspects of the courses and organisations, and , once accredited, course providers are monitored in several ways, so that a lapse in standards can be taken up by the DSDM Consortium. The DSDM Consortium is entitled to request further details and references from the organisation, as needed, when considering accreditation.

Assuming all the required documentation is complete, the DSDM Consortium will endeavour to process the application for course and organisation accreditation within one month. In the event of the need for and application requiring clarification and amendment, this may of course take considerably longer.

Prior to accreditation, applicants are not authorised to advertise their intention to offer training leading to DSDM Practitioner certificate. Breach of this rule may lead to the rejection of the application. Applicants wishing to publish brochures, whilst the application is under consideration, should consult the DSDM Consortium to agree the wording.

The DSDM Consortium reserves the right for their representatives to attend accredited training courses for audit and review purposes. The DSDM Consortium reserves the right to withdraw accreditation if the organisation fails to comply with the audit procedures. The DSDM Consortium reserves the right to withdraw accreditation if the organisation is delivering courses below the required standard. Accreditation will be withdrawn in the event of an organisation failing to take satisfactory remedial action within one month of being notified by the DSDM Consortium of an unsatisfactory standard of training.

    Accreditation of Training Courses

There are currently three levels of DSDM training which can be provided by a training supplier.

  • DSDM Aware
  • DSDM Practitioner
  • Managing DSDM Projects

An organisation may apply to deliver one or more of these levels and accreditation will be awarded accordingly. For example, an organisation may wish to register as a provider of DSDM Aware training and be awarded this accreditation. It may then resubmit to apply for accreditation of DSDM Practitioner and/or Managing DSDM Projects, at a later date.

An organisation can offer several courses at each level, for example, aimed at different target audiences.

Accredited training organisations will be informed when new courses are available, via the DSDM Consortium.

A training course put forward as DSDM Aware must be shown to cover the DSDM approved syllabus. Download details of the Aware Course Syllabus here.

A training course put forward as DSDM Practitioner must be shown to cover the DSDM approved syllabus. Download details of the Practitioner Course Syllabus here.

A training course put forward as Managing DSDM Projects must be shown to cover the DSDM approved syllabus. Download details of the Managing DSDM Projects Course Syllabus here.

The organisation may submit courses of longer duration, including extra sessions (tools training, analysis techniques etc). These will be considered for accreditation as long as the core topics are covered in adequate detail.

The application for DSDM training course accreditation must clearly state the version of DSDM to be represented. All DSDM courses must be delivered by certified DSDM Trainers.

Organisations wishing to apply for course accreditation, should submit the following, for each course, to the DSDM Consortium.

    • All course materials, including slides, course handouts, videos, case study and exercises.
    • Course timetable, with timings and objectives per session.
    • Description of training method, e.g workshops, discussions etc.
    • Copies of DSDM Trainer Certificates, for at least 2 proposed trainers.
    • Tutor Notes
    • Feedback Appraisal Questionnaire form
    • Cross reference between the syllabus and the course material submitted, to show compliance to the syllabus.
