Season's greetings from the DSDM Consortium
What a great year it has been for the Consortium, a year in which we have undergone massive change. The DSDM Framework is now 'free to view and free to use' and we are seeing a substantial rise in the usage of DSDM. This has been supported by recent market analyst reports on the footprint DSDM now has, not only in the world of Agile but also in Application Development. DSDM is quite rightly recognised as the most rigorous of the Agile approaches and the most scaleable. In fact this year the DSDM Consortium coined the phrase Scalagility.
As organisations are recognizing that Agile really ‘does the business’ and are now demanding that this is used on bigger projects and programmes, DSDM really does have the edge when organisations are looking for proven process and techniques which can be used across the programme and project portfolio. A point Kent Beck magnanimously acknowledged in his keynote presentation at the Agile Business Conference
Next spring will see the launch of a new version of DSDM. This will be a significant evolution of the framework aimed at broadening the appeal and applicability of the approach taking into account the changes in business demand arising since the last release.
Following on from another great conference this year, I would like to say a big thank you to all the sponsors and speakers and especially to all the delegates. We hope you found it as challenging as we at the Consortium did. All the new ideas and enthusiasm certainly bode well for the future of the conference. The excellent feedback and great ideas delegates gave us for next year’s conference, which incidentally will be held at the QEII Conference Centre on 2nd and 3rd October, will be integrated into the programme.
The Benelux Consortium will celebrate their tenth anniversary in February 2007 and are planning a celebratory event along with a jubilee book. We congratulate all those involved and wish them a very happy and memorable celebration.
This year also saw the Consortium contract the APM Group (APMG), the specialist accreditation and certification organisation, to manage the DSDM Foundation certificate for us. In 2007 we will be further enhancing our certification offering making it more comprehensive.
Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Prosperous 2007.
